We see Pink all the time at Pampered Princess!

If you’ve ever visited us here at Pampered Princess, you’ll have noticed that we have quite an obsession with all things PINK!

And yes, I confess – it is my favourite colour and I have been known to throw on a hot pink feather boa from time to time… So when it came time to decorate our space, it was the obvious choice. Pink walls, pink furniture, pink cupcakes, pink clothes – do I need to go on?!

Last weekend I was chatting with a girlfriend after another seeing pink day and we got to talking about where the whole pink for girls and blue for boys thing came from? Why not vice-versa? So I decided to do some research and have put together a list of 20 things you never new about the colour pink that might that might shed some light on why the girls have ended up with this colour – not that my boa and I are complaining :)

  1. It is a relaxing colour and produces calm feelings
  2. It is ‘quiet’ colour
  3. Pink carnations mean “I will never forget you”
  4. Deeper pink tones can neutralize violence and have been used in prisons
  5. Pink has been known to be referred as “the colour of love”
  6. The use of pink as distinctive of girls can be dated back at least to1868, in “Little  Women” Laurie is shown boy and girl twins and asks “Which is which”. Amy then put a blue ribbon on the boy and a ribbon on the girl baby, this was a french fashion.
  7. Cherry blossoms only have a pink color when they bloom in the springtime
  8. Most flamingo species are pink in color due to pink pigments in their diet
  9. In 1968, Mary Kay Ash,  of Mary Kay Cosmetics purchased the first Pink Cadillac, it became the trademark for her company
